Condition B+: repaired tears, creases, abrasions and restoration in margins and image and along vertical and horizontal folds; paper strip across horizontal fold. Riccardo Galli was an artist and illustrator who founded the Lombardi Watercolor Association. In all, he is credited with designing ten posters, of which this was his first. Created for the Journalistic Association's ocean-themed ball at the Teatro Lirico in Milan, this annual costumed event was attended by a veritable "who's who" of Milanese society. The poster, in which the white caps of the surf accentuate the voluptuous bathers embodying this year's theme, exudes the prevailing Italian Liberty Style and captures the pageant and gaiety that the gala evoked.
