The Hermannsdenkmal (or Hermann Monument) was constructed between 1838 and 1875 in the Teutoburg Forest in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, to commemorate the Cherusci chief Arminius (or Hermann in German) and his victory over the Romans at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD.
