Richard Mayhew's consistent investigation of abstraction within landscape has been a feature of his work since the mid-1960s, when he received critical acclaim and was a member of the Spiral Group. His works are in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, the Brooklyn Museum of Art (where he had his first solo exhibition in 1950), and the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
