In yet another classic poster, Roland-Holst creates an image suggestive of a stage set. Electra is portrayed sitting within a symmetrical temple, with two fluted columns on either side of the image, and a dark shadow of the demons of her revenge swirling above her. The typography is arranged along the pediment above her. The story of Electra, and how she and her brother Orestes took revenge on their father's murderers, has inspired many theatrical productions from Sophocles through Richard Strauss who composed an opera based on the story.
