RICHARD RUMMELL FRENCH LINE. Circa 1920.
27x41 inches. Albert J. Leon, New York.
Condition B+: creases and abrasions in image; restoration in corners.
Completed in 1912, France was employed during World War I first as a hospital ship and then later as a transport ship for American troops. Once the war ended she was converted back into a luxury passenger liner, and was referred to as "The Chateau of the Atlantic". Here pictured entering New York harbor, with the city's impressive skyline behind her. The France was dismantled for scrap in 1934.
