first edition. Richardson and Rae commanded this overland search for Franklin from 1847-49 in the vicinity of the mouth of the Coppermine River and the Wollaston Peninsula. The author, a noted naturalist, had previously been on the first and second Franklin expeditions. This journal of the search is notable mostly for its descriptions and colorful plates of the Indians of the region.
