Additional Details

Animal House was a huge cinematic success; it opened in 1978, remained in theaters for months, and was quickly released overseas. By the summer of 1979, the movie was no longer in general play and National Lampoon planned to re-release it in autumn for the back-to-school season. Meyerowitz was asked to do another poster. The headline was 'Guess Who's Back?' so he cleverly drew a rear view of all the Deltas with the rest of the cast, horrified, facing them and thus the viewer. A few details drawn in this rendering were altered or deleted in the final printing of the poster, such as the wording on the clothing and a few characters that the artist found distracting to the composition.
