The artist's last print. Motherwell first visited Provincetown, Massachusetts, in the 1940s, with the émigré Surrealist Max Ernst, art collector Peggy Guggenheim (Ernst's wife at the time), and Motherwell's own first wife, actress Emilia Ferreira y Moyers. He kept a studio in Provincetown for decades, visiting frequently during summers to paint ansd sketch, and died of a heart attack while in Cape Cod in 1991 for an exhibition of his work. Belknap 431.
