Charlie Parker. Record album cover illustration for Charlie Parker: Bird with Strings Live at the Apollo, Carnegie Hall and Birdland (Columbia Records, 1976). Acrylic on board. 20 x 20 inches (image) in 20 1/2 x 20 1/2-inch frame. Accompanied by a copy of the LP.

Often referred to as the "godfather of the new illustration," Robert Weaver was among a group of illustrators whose innovative approach to visual storytelling both conveyed information and evoked emotion. Weaver's portrayals of jazz personalities, spanning traditional to bebop, vividly capture the essence of the music.
