first edition of the first major work about haitian artists. signed by many of the artists: Philomé Obin, Rigaut Bénoit, De Witt Peters, Diedonné Cédor (several signatures), Castera Bazile, Fernand Pierre, Odilon Duperier, Micius Stephane, Minimum Cayemitte, Wilson Bigaud, Lucien Price, André Boucard, and Toussaint Auguste. Rodman was appointed co-director of the Centre d'Art, Port-au-Prince in 1948. This overview was the first major work devoted to Haitian artists, many of whose work was destroyed in the devastating earthquake of 2010.
