ROGER BRODERS (1883-1953)

FLORENCE. 1921.

40 1/2x29 3/4 inches, 102 3/4x75 1/2 cm. Champenois, Paris.
Condition B+: overpainting and airbrushing in margins, text and image; vertical and horizontal folds.

In 1921, Roger Broders toured around Italy, and his sojourns to Rome and Florence resulted in an exemplary poster for each city, including this nocturnal view of the Ponte Vecchio with the moon reflecting in the waters of the Arno. Rather than focus on Florence's famed Duomo, Broders depicts the bell tower and dome of the Basilica Santa Maria del Santo Spirito and the homes along the Arno's southern bank. Broders p. 104, Perry / Broders p. 91, Manifesta 121, Wagons-Lits 169, Chemins de Fer 163.
