One of two versions of this poster, the other specifically promoting the "Championnat du Monde de Hockey sur Glace / 27 Janvier-2 Fevrier 1930." The first Winter Olympic Games were held in Chamonix in 1924. The decision to hold the games in this Alpine town "triggered a period of frenzied construction as rail and road links and hotel development opened up the area to international tourism" (Olympic Posters p. 33). The skating facilities, including the large rink and the building featured on this poster, were constructed prior to the event and delivered to the International Olympic Committee in December 1923. This poster, Broders' most action-filled image, is often considered an unofficial Chamonix Olympic poster by collectors. Broders p. 71, Perry / Broders p. 76, Hillion p. 200 (var), Sports d'Hiver p. 87, Sportissimo p. 147 (var).
