ROGER BRODERS (1883-1953) LE TOUR DU CAP CORSE. 1923.
42 1/4x31 inches, 107 1/4x78 3/4 cm. Cornille & Serre, Paris.
Condition A- / A: punch holes in right margin; minor restoration along right edge.
Around 1923, Broders began to incorporate a more distinct third layer of depth in his posters. The foreground, generally depicted in darker hues, "which serves to enhance and draw the attention of the viewer to the center," where Broders depicts a town or a village. "The background . . . represents the mountains, which draws upwards the gaze of the viewer" (Perry / Broders p.11). These three elements combine to create a formidable sense of depth perception. Broders p. 98A, Perry / Broders p. 20, Le Train p. 136.
