ROGER BRODERS (1883-1953)

MARSEILLE / POINT DE DÉPART DE LA COTE D'AZUR. Circa 1929.

39¼x24¾ inches, 99½x62¾ cm. L. Serre & Cie., Paris.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears at edges, one into text and one in left image; minor creases and abrasions in image.

This poster is a significant departure from Broders' signature style and marks one of the few times he attempts to embrace Machine Age graphics. "In this poster one can feel the influence of Cassandre" (Reclame p. 113), as Broders' depiction of the locomotive is quite similar to that of Cassandre's masterpiece Nord Express, which was printed in 1927.
