Color lithograph, with foil stamping, on wove paper, 1984. 597x445 mm; 23 1/2x17 1/2 inches, full margins. Signed, titled and numbered 74/100 in pencil, lower margin. A very bright, vivid impression of this scarce print.
The Lamp commemorates the 30th anniversary of the landmark court decision Brown v. Board of Education, 1954, which declared segregated schools in the United States to be unconstitutional; the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund used the image on their poster marking the occasion. We have not found another impression of this print at auction in the past 20 years. Gelburd/Rosenberg GG#112.
