This brightly colored watercolor is an excellent example of Romare Bearden's series of watercolors from almost two decades visiting the Caribbean island of St. Martin each year. St Martin was his wife Nanette's ancestral home. In 1973 Bearden built a second home there, and produced an important body of watercolors depicting the island landscape, people and culture.
