ROOSEVELT, THEODORE. Group of 4 Autograph Notes, unsigned, to unnamed recipients, fragmentary and abbreviated notes, three on White House stationery, most in pencil. The first, recording observations of his advisors concerning one or more appointments in the consular and diplomatic service. The second, in ink, 10 lines, mentioning [George B.] Cortelyou [who held various positions in his administration; possibly addressed to him] and noting that the Brumders [family of George Brumder?] want George M. Hotschick [Consul to Austria-Hungary, 1909-10] and that it is important to employ him. The third: "Major Quay / as Deputy Naval Officer / in Philadelphia. / See Armstrong about him." The fourth, 7 lines, noting the address of [Chairman of Ellis Island Commission] Ralph Trautman with instruction to visit him. Together 4 pages, 8vo or smaller, first with integral blank, second on correspondence card, third on blank sheet, fourth on envelope; condition generally good. Vp, [1901-09]
