The first, recording observations of his advisors concerning one or more appointments in the consular and diplomatic service. The second, in ink, 10 lines, mentioning [George B.] Cortelyou [who held various positions in his administration; possibly addressed to him] and noting that the Brumders [family of George Brumder?] want George M. Hotschick [Consul to Austria-Hungary, 1909-10] and that it is important to employ him. The third: "Major Quay / as Deputy Naval Officer / in Philadelphia. / See Armstrong about him." The fourth, 7 lines, noting the address of [Chairman of Ellis Island Commission] Ralph Trautman with instruction to visit him. Together 4 pages, 8vo or smaller, first with integral blank, second on correspondence card, third on blank sheet, fourth on envelope; condition generally good. Vp, [1901-09]
