roosevelt's first published work, a catalogue of 97 species observed by Roosevelt (then in his late teens) and Minot during the summers of 1874, 1875, and 1877. It was actually reviewed in the Bulletin of the Nuttall Ornithological Society, January 1878, which called it "Very acceptable . . . the first list known to us of the birds of this ornithologically little-explored region." Only two other copies have been seen at auction since 1958. "Firmly established in the hearts of collectors as being very desirable"--Cordingley, Extreme Rarities in the Published Works of Theodore Roosevelt, page 22.
