Additional Details

Ben Rose (1916-80) was credited with bringing photography into the computer age. An advertising photographer who was one of the first practitioners to explore electronic technologies, Rose married elements of industrial photography with those of conceptual fine art. In 1978, he used an analog computer (which he programmed himself) to control his photographs for an Otis Elevator campaign.
