ROY LICHTENSTEIN
Bull VI.

Color lithograph, screenprint and line-cut on Arjomari paper, 1973. 636x838 mm; 25 1/8x33 inches, full margins. Signed, dated and numbered 54/100 in pencil, lower margin. Printed and published by Gemini G.E.L., Los Angeles, with the blind stamp lower right. A superb impression.

One of only several completely abstract prints that Lichtenstein created, among the three totally abstract images in the Bull and Bull Head series from 1973. These images relate to Picasso's famous Bull lithographs, 1945-46, in which the artist transformed a fully-realized image of a bull into the most rudimentary, minimal representation of the animal--not unlike prehistoric cave drawings--over a series of 11 lithographs. Corlett 121.
