Additional Details

The Society had a large following on both sides of the Atlantic, with William Lloyd Garrison and Wendell Phillips leading the American contingent. Later in the month, the World Anti-Slavery Convention, was held at Exeter Hall, where the exclusion of women from the proceedings served as a strong stimulus to the nascent women's suffrage movement.
