warmly inscribed in french to michel bertin in blue pen on first printed sheet. Exupery's account of his role in the French Air Force during the 1940 Battle of France. Pilote de Guerre, published in English as Flight To Arras (French and English language editions both appearing in 1942), was written by Saint-Exupery while living in the U.S. shortly before his return to France and subsequent disappearance whilst on a reconnaisance flight for the Free French Air Force. Unique early printer's proofs gifted by Saint-Exupery to his good friend Michel Bertin.
