SALOMON SAVERIJ (after Callot)
L'Impruneta (1re planche).

Etching, circa 1630. 420x654 mm; 16 1/2x25 3/4 inches. First state (of 2), before the address of Clement de Jonghe. With thread margins or trimmed on the plate mark. A superb, richly-inked and early impression of this very scarce etching.

Saverij (1594-1678) based this etching of a fair scene on the first verion (of 2) of Callot's own master print from 1622 (the first version Callot etched in Florence, and dedicated to Cosimo de' Medici, and the second he etched in his home town of Nancy). Each of these tour-de-force etchings contains more than 1100 figures, 45 horses and 137 dogs. See Lieure 361
