Provenance: acquired directly from the artist; Lyn Ritchie, Amsterdam; thence by descent to the current owner, private collection, New York. Lyn Ritchie was one of Middleton's closest friends in Amsterdam and head of the American Women's Club. She did public relations work for KLM, commissioning artwork from Middleton for various ad campaigns.
