Tall 4to, original plum gilt-decorated cloth, sunned and corners bumped; with the original tissue guards; contents clean; all edges gilt. FIRST EDITION, SIGNED BY KNEELAND AND WITH A LENGTHY INSCRIPTION.

The photographs are credited to Soule, but it is now thought that he purchased the negatives from a California photographer, possibly Edweard Muybridge, to whose work these photographs have a strong affinity. NYPL Checklist, 233.
