SANDOR THE SKY RIDE / WORLD'S FAIR CHICAGO. 1934. 26 3/4x19 1/8 inches. Condition B+: repaired tears, restored losses and overpainting in margins and image; restored right corner. Framed. One of the highlights of the Chicago World's Fair was the Sky Ride. Something like a gondola, the Sky Ride was, in fact, a "Transporter Bridge" that could ferry passengers 215 feet off the ground for a distance of 1850 feet across the fair. In spite of the incredible economic success of the Chicago World's Fair, and despite being one of the most highly publiczed events of its time, there is no biographical information available on Sandor, an accomplished artist who executed at least two images for the Fair.
