Sargent," to [portrait photographer Sherill?] Schell, informing him that the painting [possibly Edwin Booth (1890)] will be ready to be photographed next week, inquiring after the name of the intended photographer and the name of the one employed for La Carmencita (1890), and requesting proofs of each. 2 pages, 8vo, written on first and third pages of a folded sheet, mourning border stationery; folds, dated docketing on terminal page. During the summer of 1890, Sargent rented the New York City studio of painter Dora Wheeler Keith, where he painted a number of portraits, including Senator Henry Cabot Lodge, financier George Peabody, and the actors Joseph Jefferson, Laurence Barrett, and Edwin Booth.
