With the sea wind in her hair, a woman is shielding her eyes from the bright Atlantic sun. With her back to the ocean she is facing Atlantic City's boardwalk, reflections of which are visible in the green lenses of her sunglasses. Maurer creates the impression that this woman is tilting her head back (to look at something large and impressive) via three parallel lines formed by the slants of the text, the woman's glasses and the horizon. An immigrant from Germany, Maurer brought the European tradition of modernist poster design to America. Perhaps best known for his ski posters, Maurer also did a lot of poster work for both the Pennsylvania Railroad and the New Haven Railroad. Zega p. 119.
