scarce first complete edition in english, comprising translations of Schiller's unfinished only novel Der Geisterseher and its 1796 continuation by E.F.W.E. Follenius. A one-volume English version of Schiller's text appeared in 1795. The German original first appeared serially in 1786-89 and in book form in 1789. "A German prince in Venice falls victim to the deceptions of a secret society which drives him to Catholicism and in the end is supposed to incite him to a crime disrupting the order of succession to the Austrian throne . . . the novel is a masterpiece of suspense, adventure, and description" (DLB).
