Additional Details

The retired general was just finishing up his term in the first United States Senate when he wrote this letter home. Schuyler touches briefly on business: "The bank bill is still with the president, and tomorrow a conference is to be held on the excise bill. The president and Mrs. Washington desire to be remembered to you." with an 1873 presentation note from the general's grandson, Colonel George Lee Schuyler (1811-1890). Provenance: G.A.
