An exceptional and early image of America's most famous dam, in which the technical details of the structure stand out amidst the almost primitive rendering of the surrounding mountains and the distant Lake Mead. Completed in 1936, the dam, spanning Boulder Canyon, was called the Boulder Dam. It wasn't until 1947 that Congress passed a resolution renaming the dam after President Herbert Hoover. This is a rare and unusual variation of the poster promoting the New York Central Line; this same image was used by the Union Pacific Railroad in advertising their 'Boulder Dam Route'.
