SEPO (SEVERO POZZATI, 1895-1983) NOVELTEX. 1928.
81 1/2x54 1/2 inches, 207x138 1/2 cm. Affiches Dorland, Paris.
Condition B+: restored losses in right corners; minor repaired tears at edges; minor restoration in image. Two sheets.
One of Sepo's first accounts with Dorland was the shirt-maker Noveltex, whom he continually worked with over the course of almost 20 years. His geometrically-influenced depiction of a shirt is an ingenious, stylized Art Deco version of an "Object" poster, and it became the company's logo serving as the basic visual element used by the company's advertisers for many years. Here Sepo adds a patterned circle and two colored rectangles to the background to build a cubist still life centered around the shirt. Sepo 72, Encyclopedie de l'Affiche p. 19.
