Additional Details

William Leonard Hall (1866-1916) was a union leader, socialist activist, and Independent Labour Party member who was likely engaged to deliver a lecture at the Fabian Summer School in North Wales's Llanbedr when Shaw captured him in the present photograph. In the spring of 1907, Shaw began spending summers at a house near Harlech, not far from the school. For years afterwards, the school enjoyed the financial and intellectual support of Shaw and his wife.
