The Arcadian began her nautical life in 1908 as the Asturias, one of the A-Class vessels constructed to sail for the Royal Mail Steamship Packet Company (RMSP). She was torpedoed by a German U-Boat in 1917 and wasn't refitted until 1923. Both she and the Aruguaya (launched in 1906) were removed from service in 1930. Posters and Publicity p. 27.
