Primarily a sculptor Gordin's (1918-1995) work has been aptly associated with the modern American artists Charles Biederman (1906-2004) and Burgoyne Diller (1906-1965), both of whom made framed geometric wall reliefs in painted wood. He was also influenced by the reliefs and kinetic sculptures of Alexander Calder (1898-1976), and the constructions of Theodore Roszak (1933-2011) and Naum Gabo (1890-1977). Gordin was a prolific draughtsman and produced numerous studies of both intended and completed sculptural designs throughout his career.
