The Temple of Poseidon, overlooking the Aegean, is in Sounion, a day trip from Athens. Ironically, the Greek State Railway, which was formed in 1920 from the conglomeration of two smaller existing railways, never ran from Athens to this southern promontory. This is the Greek version.
