Frau im Mond [The Woman in the Moon] was probably the first film to deal realistically with the possibilities of space travel. Directed and produced by Fritz Lang in 1929, it is based on the novel by Thea von Harbou, Lang's wife at the time. The U.S. release was called 'By Rocket to the Moon.'
