This is one of Cantarini's (1612-1648) earliest etchings, done soon after he joined the studio of Guido Reni (1575-1642). The style of the etching is so close to Reni, in fact, that scholars have suggested that Reni's hand might have been involved in finishing the plate. Bartsch 18.
