Tinted lithographed pictorial titles, dedication leaf, 79 tinted lithographed plates heightened with gum arabic, by E. Walker, J. Needham and others after Simpson, 38 accompanied by facing printed geographical keys to the images (bound in), protected by tissue guards. 550x368 mm; 21 5/8x14 1/2 inches, sheets, full margins. Tall atlas folio, 3/4 burgundy morocco gilt with 7 spine compartments with raised bands, moderate scuffing and uneven discoloration to cloth, small labels in Cyrillic at top left corner of front covers; all edges trimmed and gilt, occasional very light spotting, thin line of faint dampstaining along top (side) margin edges to several plates in Vol. 2, plates 26-28 and 38, 39 with 1/4-inch crease and tear along same area from gouge to top edge; bookplates.
