Additional Details

Very rare. All maps, except the World and Great Britain & Ireland carry an additional imprint: "Drawn & Engraved under the direction of H. S. Tanner for the Atlas to accompany Smiley's Easy Introduction to the Study of Geography. 1830." The value of the atlas is in the spectacular hand-colored quadruple-page map titled Map of the United States and Mexico, 435x530 mm, drawn and engraved under the direction of H. S. Tanner 1830. "All the Tanner mas dated 1825 to 1847 are . . . important . . . because they represent the original data source for Disturnell's map"--Martin in Ristow, A la Carte, page 208.
