first edition. Snow served as the purser during this 1850 Franklin search expedition aboard the Prince Albert, which was commanded by Charles C. Forsyth and sponsored by Lady Franklin herself. The color lithographed plates are after original works by the author. It is a relatively scarce account of an expedition notable for being the first to relay the news of the discovery of Franklin's winter quarters on Beechey Island.
