SPENCER TRACY
Typed letter signed by Tracy terminating his contract with Fox. March 30, 1935.
2 pages, 8 1/2x11 inches. Holes punched in the left margin. With the original brown paper folder.

Tracy became disenchanted at being typecast as a gangster after being offered the role of Dan Harrow in The Farmer Takes a Wife (1935). The studio agreed to drop his contract and offered the role instead to Henry Fonda -- his screen debut.
