S.S. FRANCE / FRENCH LINE.
39x24 inches. Hubert Baille, Paris.
Condition A. Matted and Framed.
Perhaps toying with Paul Colin's famous image for the French Line, Jacquelin sets a liner against a backdrop of the French tri-color. However, to emphasize the ship's size, Jacquelin only uses the flag for half of the poster. Launched in 1961, The SS France was the longest passenger vessel built to date, and soon became known for her comfort and luxury (winged funnels prevented soot from dirtying passengers strolling on deck.) She sailed for French Line until 1974.
