Additional Details

"The horse of Tarleton's corps you mention must for the present be delivered to the Quartermaster General. . . . The boat, having been taken by the troops does not come within the purview of the capitulation and consequently does not belong to the French. . . . The colours must be sent here. I hope the prisoners are marched as the General is anxious upon that head." Washington was eager to get the British prisoners inland, being concerned that a British fleet might still manage to break through and free them.
