One in a series of posters promoting Southern Pacific's new streamlined trains. Here, the Daylight is blazing its way out of a map of the United States superimposed over a star-spangled emblem that looks like a railroad spike. In the mid-1930s, Southern Pacific's advertising manager, F.Q. Treadway, chose to illustrate "bold speed-styled profiles" on the company's posters.
