STANLEY WALTER GALLI (1912-2009)

CANADIAN PACIFIC / BY SEA BY LAND BY AIR. Circa 1960s.

36x24 1/4 inches, 91 1/2x61 1/2 cm.
Condition A: unobtrusive restoration in corners.

A series of images highlighting the aspects of Canadian Pacific's extensive travel network, including the streamlined "Canadian" with its domed sleeper/observation car- "Banff Park," which first went into service in 1954, the Empress of Canada, which took its maiden voyage in April 1961, and the Empress of Vancouver, a DC-8 that went into service in 1961. Although best known for his series of posters for United Airlines, Galli also worked for Canadian Pacific during the 1950s and 60s, providing illustrations for brochures and magazine ads. This first of these three images is signed by Galli and also appeared in a brochure for the Canadian; it is presumed the other two images are also by the artist.
