Large 4to, gilt-lettered backstrip with (customized?) cerulean blue binding, light edgewear. first edition, signed and inscribed by steichen to monroe wheeler.

with--Group of 6 ephemeral items including: a bi-fold, printed and illustrated invitation to The Family of Man show (in the original envelope); a handwritten memorandum from Steichen to Monroe Wheeler, who was then MOMA's librarian, about "possible replacements or additions to the show;" a TLS by Carl Sandburgh (Steichen's brother-in-law) to Monroe Wheeler, dated April 26, 1961; 2 Western Union telegraphs co-addressed to Mr. Steichen, Mrs. Shaw and Mr. Wheeler; and a clipping from a catalog, noting the cost of the book, "The Family of Man, an Exhibition of Creative Photography."
