first editions, each inscribed and signed by steinberg to monroe wheeler in the year of publication, the first with an original pen drawing on the half-title. Beneath the inscription beginning "To Monroe Wheeler with . . ." Steinberg drew a self-portrait tipping his hat to indicate "compliments." The Art of Living bears a warm inscription of friendship on the title-page.
