Crescent Moon is a fine example of Stephanie Pogue's abstract aesthetic from the 1970s and '80s. As a printmaker, she worked with Aaron Douglas, reprinting many of his earlier prints, including The Junkman and Emperor Jones. Pogue earned her B.A. from Howard University in 1966 and her M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Her work has been exhibited at Fisk University, the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Spelman College and Howard University.
