Originally commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this portfolio includes a handwritten postcard from Philippe de Montebello, with a photomechanical image of Monet's 'Water Lilies.' It reads, "Dear Seymour, Please accept this album of Stephen Shore's photos of Giverny as a token of our appreciation for your help on the Monet show, Yours, Philippe de Montebello."
